Our Story
Grace and Peace was birthed from dozens of Christians who wanted to have a
community-based and
accessible
missionary outpost (or church) in South Philadelphia. We began as a Sunday School class at Tenth Presbyterian Church. Then, we acquired a store-front property met for prayer and missionary strategizing. Then, at the request of our neighbors (many of whom who didn’t believe in Jesus!), we began worship services in July 2010. In two years we were full, so we worshipped on the basketball court of the local YMCA. Then we moved into the renovated warehouse where we currently meet.
Though we lacked money and organization, we saw Jesus build His church by
the simple ministry of the Gospel of grace
and the love that it creates
in God's people. The good news of Jesus has been, and is, both
what we proclaim and what we want to focus on.
